Bikers from Central North Island northwards have been meeting for years under the guidance of Chief Examiner for Motorbikes (Philip McDaid). With the accelerating growth of IAM NZ, the official formation of an Auckland Local group with responsibilities distinct from the National body has become a necessity in April 2015.
The original enthusiastic voluntary team of 4 was formed primarily to drive growth across the Motorcycle division in the Auckland area. This was expanded in late 2015 to include a representative from the Car division. The team now has grown to 5 and comprises
- Chair (Tessa Christmas)
- Membership Secretary – Motorcycles (Stephen McCormick)
- Membership Secretary – Cars (John Heebink)
- Social Secretary (Hayden Everatt)
- Observer Representative (Richard Turnbull)
There is a need for Auckland members to receive better communication through a bi-monthly newsletter similar to other regions. So the Group is looking for a new volunteer to act as Newsletter Co-ordinator. If you are interested, contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Bikers (Members and Associates only) meet for monthly observed rides on the last Sunday of the month at:
The Coffee Club North West, 1-7 Fred Taylor Drive, Massey (On Maki Street in the new part of Westgate which just opened at the end of 2015) at 9:00am for a 10am start.
Bikers also meet for social rides on a Sunday mid-Month. The starting location varies but the riders generally meet at 9:30am for a 10am start.
